Testing of transmissions causes vibrations, which have to be isolated from the surroundings. Therefore, transmission test rigs are either vibration-isolated with Steel Spring Isolators or Air Springs. The type of support depends on the magnitude of the static and dynamic loads. In case of changes in mass on the clamping plates, the support is realized with air springs to maintain the level.

For the layout of the vibration isolation system, CFM Schiller executes precise calculations of the natural frequency as well as finite element analyses. Clamping plates are often arranged in T-shape or cross-shape for transmission test rigs. For these arrangements, the distribution of the applying loads needs to be considered carefully.
