The µC 300 serves as an electronic level control with active damping. The level is measured through contactless sensors. The controller passes the control signals to high-dynamic proportional valves. The µC 300 actively works against increasing oscillations of the system and minimizes the decay time. The level control unit of the µC 300 processes a total of seven input signals, which are detected by three magnetostrictive or contactless sensors as well as four pressure sensors. The control unit transmits three analog control signals to three electromagnetic proportional valves and thus regulates the air volumetric flow rate in the three air spring systems. Thanks to the active control principle, the settling time after an external excitation is significantly shorter than with passive damping.
The possibility of optimizing the control algorithm is the main advantage over the mechanical control solutions. Modifying the algorithm enables the level control system µC to suitably adapt to the given requirements. The plant (model of the system) and the controller are described in the algorithms on the microcontroller. By adjusting the control parameters, the systems behavior can be improved.
